Snowfall

New York Times reporter John Branch tells the harrowing story of skiers caught in an avalanche.

The fresh powder beckoned sixteen expert skiers and snowboarders into the backcountry. Without warning, a snow-covered meadow gave way, sweeping violently down the mountain. No one knew who was lost. This interactive multimedia feature was critically acclaimed, including winning the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing.
