A program of short stories that would never have existed without the internet.
November 9th 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Starting that date, Connected Walls offered web visitors the possibility to virtually break down two North/South frontiers : the US/Mexico border and the Spain/Morocco border.
Every ten days, during two months, webusers voted on topics that served as points of departure for two local film crews. By allowing these artists to personally document, together, the borders that define their everyday life, Connected Walls revealed to a global audience the effect of these walls, but also proved that the web can open new paths for dialogue.
IDFA DocLab is the New Media program of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). Since 2007, the program showcases new forms of documentary storytelling and interactive media art, both online and offline. During the IDFA Festival in November, DocLab presents a competition program for Digital Documentary Storytelling, live cinema events, interactive installations, workshops and industry panels. The program is open to all media that can be used to tell a documentary story.
