Expanding Documentary Expo
Multimedia exhibition that includes the DocLab installation HIGHRISE/Out My Window.
IDFA DocLab has joined forces with cultural centre De Brakke Grond to explore the documentary genre through visual art and theatre.
In the exhibition Expanding Documentary, visual artists and filmmakers will present their own interpretations of the documentary, searching for new ways to do justice to the complexity of reality. Flemish theatre-makers Berlin and Steigeisen will also be making their own intriguing link to the documentary.

World Premiere
HIGHRISE/Out My Window StorySpace Installation
The Canadian project HIGHRISE/Out My Window StorySpace Installation by Katerina Cizek is a world first: one of the first ever interactive 360˚ web documentary installations. The work consists of thousands of photos and dozens of intimate audio interviews from 13 different cities in 13 different languages. We look in through the windows of living rooms in apartment blocks, providing the impetus for the stories ourselves.
Donkey Room
For the video installation Donkey Room, Sarah Vanagt follows a donkey that visits old people’s homes in the South of England. There is an encounter, between man and beast, past and present, skin and fur.
